This year's event will span over two days. The main Complexitat Day is scheduled for June 6th, and will follow its regular format. However, the preceding day, June 5th, will feature a dedicated session for students, including a series of workshops and talks.

Thinking about the world, and especially modeling it, requires reasoning quantitatively with uncertainty. The mathematical tool set for doing this is probability theory; in this sense, probability theory is the logic of science. In this lecture, we will discuss the Bayesian interpretation of probabilities, which takes the idea of "probability theory as the logic of science" as its starting point. We will also discuss how to make inferences from data that are consistent with this interpretation and see how this Bayesian inference clarifies some conundrums that appear in other interpretations of probabilities. We will also discuss its connections to information theory and statistical physics, and finish by discussing some examples of Bayesian inference in network theory and machine learning.
In this session, students and researchers from different career stages will gather to discuss academic challenges and career development in a supportive environment. Additionally, we will collectively explore how to integrate young researchers more effectively into the Complexitat.cat community, taking into account their needs and expectations.
Data visualization is the process of translating raw data into diagrams and images explaining numbers, allowing us to gain insight from them. An effective visualization is the best way to communicate information extracted from the analysis of increasingly large and complex datasets. In this tutorial, we will explore the basic concepts of data visualization, and provide some tips to navigate through the rough seas of visualization; thus making more sense of data and allowing the highlight of patterns and trends.
This two-hour session aims to facilitate interaction and foster connections among young researchers to strengthen the Catalan Complex System Community while fostering collaboration and innovation across disciplines to address global challenges. Researchers will introduce themselves and form groups to develop collaborative project proposals related to Sustainable Development Goals, using tools from complex systems, networks, and their research areas. It is open to all researchers, regardless of career stage.

The submission of abstracts for posters and short talks (10 to 15 minutes) is available until April 25, 2024.
We welcome abstracts from all areas of complex systems science.
Kindly submit your abstracts via email to abstracts@complexitat.cat. In the subject line of the email, specify your preference: "Poster abstract" or "Short talk abstract". Please use the provided LaTeX template, accessible through this link (or the one below), when submitting your abstract. Ensure that the abstract is in PDF format and includes the title, authors, affiliation, acknowledgments, and text. Bibliography and a figure are optional. The length should be one page, except if there is a figure.
Notification of results will be sent on May 10, 2024.
